38/46 (82%) of the current year 6 children (leaving July 2019) have achieved the compulsory 25 metres and water safety stated in the National Curriculum. The cohort was a relatively strong year group in terms of swimming ability. Out of the 8 children who did not achieve the standard, 3 were withdrawn by parents, 3 were SEN and 2 did not reach the standard but did attend -these children still attended the sessions improving their confidence and learning water safety.
34/48 (71%) of the current year 5 swimmers have already achieved the compulsory 25 metres stated in the National Curriculum. The cohort this year has an increase in ‘new to swimming’ children. Extra swimming sessions started in summer term. These have been taking place every Tuesday and are helping us to reach swimming targets by giving more time to the under confident swimmers on top of the compulsory allocated time which they already get.
